Triple Digit Temps Hit AZ

Triple Digit Temps Hit AZ

PHOENIX (AP) _ Forecasters warn that much of the northern half of Arizona will be ripe for wildfires Tuesday amid strong winds and low humidity.

The National Weather Service has posted red flag warnings starting at 11 a.m. for the region, with humidity expected to drop into single digits while wind gusts are set to top out at 40 mph.

The wildfire risks come after the mercury hit triple digits in Phoenix for the first time this year. Temperatures in the city topped out at 100 on Sunday.

National Weather Service forecaster Keith Kincaid says the last time Phoenix had a 100-degree day was last Oct. 4.

Meteorologists say the heat is expected to offer up a couple more triple-digit days before the weather cools off to the mid-90s by mid-week.
