FDA Issues Warning About Acetaminophen

(Washington, DC) -- The FDA is issuing a warning about acetaminophen, the active ingredient in many over the counter medicines.

The FDA says taking more than 325 milligrams of acetaminophen per dose could cause liver damage. It recommends health care professionals to stop giving out prescriptions that contain go over the limit.

It also noted that cases of severe liver damage have occurred in patients who took more than the prescribed dose or drank alcohol while taking those products.
