Google Buys SlickLogin, A Web Sound Authentication Start-Up

(Undated)  --  Google is buying SlickLogin, whose technology lets websites verify a user's identity using sound waves.  It can be used by companies as a password replacement or an additional layer of security to protect against data theft.

SlickLogin works by playing a nearly silent sound that's picked up by an app on the user's smartphone and analyzed before sending a signal back to confirm the person's identity.  Financial details on the deal have not been released.
